15 Year Celebration of the Fjällräven Classic.
This year is the 15th celebration of the Fjällräven Classic and the perfect time to reflect on where we started and where we are heading. The purpose of the trek was to make the outdoors more accessible, fun and exciting and to always put nature first. We’ve learned so much while also staying true to that goal over the last decade and a half. So now we’re really excited to be planning even more for the future of Fjällräven Classic.
A look backwards.
When we started the first ever Fjällräven Classic in Sweden in 2005 we had no idea the popularity and reach that the community would attract. The first Classic started with only a couple of hundred dedicated trekkers in Sweden in 2005. And now year after year as soon as tickets are available, they are sold out. Around the world more than 2,000 people from over 22 different countries finished the Classic last year. Pretty amazing if you ask us. Without you, and the rest of our fantastic participants, there wouldn’t be any Classic events.
But the positive experiences that are created through the Classic treks are quite powerful and, it seems, contagious. We’re very happy to see the incredible enthusiasm and resilience of our participants and volunteers time and again. The shared appreciation of nature and discovering that we’re all stronger than we think are probably the main reasons that this celebration of the outdoors now goes into its fifteenth year.
And into the future.
From marriage proposals on top of peaks, to first nights spent in tents, to wild weather surprises the Fjällräven Classics have always been full of firsts. And we have just announced that in 2020 we will have a total of eight Classics around the globe. There will be the inaugural events in Germany, China, South Korea and the UK. It’s great to be able to add these locations to the family and we can’t wait to meet more new trekking friends from all over the world.
So please join us – grab your backpack and get ready for the experience of a lifetime – whether it’s your tenth time on the trail or your first ever long-distance trek: See you soon!
