How to apply to Fjällräven Polar
Ready to leave your comfort zone? You’ve come to the right place. Here’s how to apply for Fjällräven Polar 2024.
Step 1: Attend the Fjällräven Polar 2024 global launch event
Join the global launch event on Monday 30th October 2023, where Global Events Manager, Carl Hård af Segerstad, and Fjällräven Friend, Sofia Johansson, will introduce the 2024 expedition and share all the information you’ll need to apply. You’ll also get a closer look at life in the Arctic – the route, how to dog sled above the Arctic Circle, and how the experience has impacted the lives of expedition alumni. The global launch event is not mandatory, but it will give you a head start in the application process.

Step 2: Fill out the Fjällräven Polar 2024 application form
To apply for Fjällräven Polar 2024, you must first fill out the application form on the Fjällräven Experience Hub with some basic information about yourself. This step is mandatory – applications won’t be processed unless this step is complete. The application form will be available when applications open during the global launch event on Monday 30th October.

Step 3: Complete three challenges via a public Instagram account
After completing your application form, you’ll need to respond to three weekly challenges, the first of which will be introduced during the global launch event. You’ll need to respond to each challenge by uploading videos, images or text to Instagram and tagging @fjallravenofficial, #FjallravenPolar2024, and the corresponding challenge number: #Challenge1, #Challenge2 or #Challenge3. The Instagram account you use must be set to ‘public’ so the judges can see your content.
Challenge details will be sent to the email address you provide in your application form. They will also be published on Fjällräven’s official Instagram account and updated weekly on the Fjällräven Experience Hub starting from 30th October.
We’ve created these challenges not only to get to know you and your motives for applying to join the expedition, but to encourage you to reflect on your relationship with nature and understand how you might inspire others to spend more time in nature. The theme for each challenge is:

You must respond to all three challenges before applications close on Sunday 19th November 23:59 CET.
This step is mandatory – your application won't be complete unless you’ve responded to all three challenges. And don’t forget to set your Instagram profile to ‘public’ before uploading your content!

The jury selection process
Once applications close, the Fjällräven jury – made up of Fjällräven Polar alumni, ambassadors, and employees – will select the final 20 winners and expedition participants for Fjällräven Polar 2024 based on the following criteria:
- Completion of application form and all three challenges
- Staying true to the challenge
- Capacity to inspire others, including creativity, reach and distribution
Jury Objectives
- An equal split between genders
- Age distribution
- Skill and experience variation
- Geographical variation
Things to remember when applying
To apply, you must complete the application form and all three challenges through an Instagram account that is set to ‘public’, not private. If you don’t have an Instagram account, learn how to set up one here: https://help.instagram.com/155940534568753
To participate, you need to agree to our Terms & Conditions in the application form (available from Monday 30th October).
The content you produce in correlation to each Instagram challenge is free of choice – it can be photos, videos, imagery, text and/or in any other creative format.
Your content doesn’t need to be a high-quality production with high-end cameras, multi-channel sound or highly edited content. We want to see your authenticity and creativity, first and foremost!
Platform specifications for video: max 60 seconds per post.
Your contribution needs to be in English, either written or spoken.
You are not limited to one Instagram post per challenge, as long as you use the correct hashtag for each challenge.

FAQ-Who can apply for a spot at Fjällräven Polar 2024?
Fjällräven Polar is for anyone who wants to apply. It doesn’t matter where you are in the world. However, this is a challenging event, mostly because of the conditions, so you should have a reasonable level of fitness. You must also be over the age of 18, be able to speak English, and have an open and flexible, learning mindset. There is no upper age limit!
When do applications open and close?
Applications for Fjällräven Polar 2024 open after the global launch event which takes place Monday 30th October 2023, 16:00 CET. Applications close on Sunday 19th November and the winners will be announced on Monday 11th December 2023.
Do I need to respond to a challenge directly when it’s released?
No, as long as you have completed all three challenges before 19th November, 23.59 CET, you can decide when to respond to a challenge. However, since they will be released weekly and you might want to get creative, we recommend that you complete them as soon as each challenge is released.
Do I need to attend the global launch event to apply?
No, the global launch event is not mandatory when applying, but we do recommend you attend as it will give you a good overview of Fjällräven Polar 2024, what to expect from the expedition and the application process.
If I win a place on the expedition, do I need to prepare anything?
Fjällräven Polar is an adventure for anyone. You don’t need to prepare anything apart from your application. If you’re selected, we’ll take care of your travel, expedition planning, equipment and on-site training.
