Let’s do Classic – three Fjällräven newbies hit the King’s Trail

When you start working at Fjällräven, people talk about Fjällräven Classic – or just Classic, as we call it here in the office – as kind of like a rite of passage. If you work at Fjällräven, you will “do Classic” at some point.

And “that point” is now, 2016, for myself (Sarah), Joel and Amanda - all new members of the Fjällräven family. Experiencing Classic first hand is the only way to really understand what this “celebration of hiking” – as our more experienced colleagues like to call it – is all about.

So with our bags (nearly) packed, our legs feeling strong(ish) and our camera batteries fully charged, it’s about time to get trekking.

Follow our adventure here and on Facebook and Instagram. And if you’re also doing Classic this year, come and say hello. We’d love to meet you! If you want some talking points to get the conversation started, here are few quick facts about us.

I come from the UK but now live in Stockholm, Sweden, and work as PR and Social Media Manager here at Fjällräven. I love hiking, snowboarding and climbing in Norway and the Alps. I've completed the Tour du Mont Blanc (solo) and the Pinzgauer Spaziergang and just recently I climbed Austria's highest mountain, the Grossglockner. I can't wait to see the landscape around Singi and Sälka, but I'm not looking forward to all those mosquitos.

Our Digital Communications Manager Joel was born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden. He's worked for 10+ years with digital marketing but has dreamt about a more outdoorsy lifestyle even longer. He combines hiking, skiing and kayaking with family life whenever possible. He's actually hiked the Classic route before, independently, (cabin-to-cabin) but in reverse. He's really looking forward to drinking ice cold fresh water straight from mountain streams, but he's a little concerned about spending almost a week without great coffee.

Amanda is our Product Information Manager. She makes sure all our products look great and come with the right information online. She comes from Nynäshamn in the southern part of Stockholm's archipelago, but she now lives in the centre of the Swedish capital. Growing up by the sea, it comes as no surprise that Amanda's favourite pastime is kayaking, but she also likes hiking around Kebnekaise and along Sörmlandsleden. She's hoping to go for a morning dip in Abiskojaure and she's crossing her fingers that she's suitably walked in her new Hanwag hiking boots.
